Structure, Then Collagen

Why Choose Boulder Skin Bar for Radiesse in Boulder?

Radiesse is a calcium hydroxylapatite filler. Unlike a hyaluronic acid filler, which adds volume alone, Radiesse works in two ways: the gel gives structure immediately where facial volume has been lost, and the microspheres it leaves behind stimulate the skin’s own collagen over the months that follow. It is used in the cheeks and mid-face, along the jawline and chin, and in the temples, jowls and neck.

Expert Care. Personalized Results.

Your goals come first at Boulder Skin Bar. Every injectable treatment is performed by a registered nurse injector under physician oversight, with recommendations tailored to your unique features and aesthetic goals. Your consultation is an opportunity to explore what will work best for you, whether that’s Radiesse or another approach. No pressure, no unnecessary treatments, just thoughtful guidance and a personalized plan to help you look and feel your best.

Radiesse at a Glance

  • Works Two Ways: the gel gives structure immediately, and the microspheres stimulate your own collagen over the months that follow.
  • Built for Structure: best suited to a softened jawline, flattened cheeks or hollowed temples rather than fine lines or surface texture.
  • Gradual by Design: the collagen part of the result arrives slowly, which is why people tend to notice you look well before they notice anything was done.
  • How Long It Lasts: the clinical indication is up to a year in most patients in the lower face, though it varies from person to person with the area treated and how much is used.

Radiesse or Hyaluronic Acid Filler

Which Injectable Is Right for You?

Both add volume the day you have them. The difference is what happens afterwards.

  • What it is: Radiesse is calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in a gel. A hyaluronic acid filler is a hyaluronic acid gel.
  • What happens next: the Radiesse microspheres stimulate your own collagen over the following months, where a hyaluronic acid gel is gradually absorbed.
  • Where each tends to be used: Radiesse in the cheeks, mid-face, jawline and chin; hyaluronic acid filler where fine shaping and adjustability matter, such as the lips.

Skin Concerns

What Radiesse Is Used For

Cheeks & Mid-Face

Have your cheeks and mid-face lost fullness?

Flattening across the cheeks and mid-face, the kind that reads as tiredness in photographs before you notice it in the mirror.

Cheeks & Mid-FaceImmediate Structure
What to expect

How long it holds varies from person to person. The area treated, how much product is used and your own skin all play a part. Your injector will give you a realistic expectation at your consultation.

Jawline & Chin

Has your jawline or chin lost its edge?

A jawline or chin that has lost its edge, and looks softer in profile than it used to.

Jawline & ChinImmediate Structure
What to expect

The clinical indication is that jaw function can feel a little different for a short time afterwards, and that it settles on its own. We go through what to expect before anything is injected.

Collagen Over Time

Do you want the change to keep building after the appointment?

A change that keeps developing after the appointment rather than arriving all at once.

Collagen Over TimeBuilds Over Months
What to expect

The clinical indication is results lasting up to a year in most patients in the lower face. It varies from person to person, so your injector will set a realistic expectation at your consultation.

Choosing Between Fillers

Are you choosing between Radiesse and a hyaluronic acid filler?

If you are weighing the two, the difference is not what you see on the day. It is what happens after it.

Areas We Treat with Radiesse

Every area below is one we have treated and photographed. This list comes from our own cases rather than a manufacturer’s.

  • Cheeks and mid-face: flattening and volume loss that reads as tiredness.
  • Jawline and chin: a jawline that has lost its edge.
  • Temples: hollowing at the sides of the forehead.
  • Jowls: softening along the lower face.
  • Neck: crepey texture and laxity.

What to Expect

From Consultation to Follow-Up

  • A consultation. We look at your face at rest and in movement, ask what is bothering you, and say whether Radiesse is the right answer, including when it is not.
  • The appointment itself. How long it takes, and what is used for comfort. We will go through comfort options and how long to set aside at your consultation.
  • The same day. What swelling or bruising to expect, and for how long. Merz lists mild swelling, redness, bruising, tenderness or small lumps at the injection sites as the common ones, and in their jawline study these were mild and settled within about two weeks. Plan to skip strenuous exercise, heat and strong sun for the first day or so.
  • The weeks that follow. The gel gives structure immediately; the collagen response builds over the months after that.
  • Follow-up photographs. We photograph at follow-up, which is where the images above come from.

Frequently Asked Questions

In part immediately: the gel gives structure the day you have it. The collagen response builds over the months that follow.

That is the most common worry we hear, and it is a fair one. Our approach is conservative by default: we would rather do less and have you come back than overfill a face. At your consultation we will tell you honestly whether Radiesse is right for you, including when it is not.

Comfort is part of the plan, and we will talk through your options at your consultation. Tell your injector if you are uncomfortable at any point.

The clinical indication is immediate improvement, with results lasting up to a year in most patients in the lower face, as the microspheres stimulate the skin’s own collagen and elastin. How long it lasts varies from person to person. The area treated, how much product is used and your own skin all play a part, so your injector will give you a realistic expectation for your plan at your consultation.

Radiesse is priced per syringe, and how many you need depends on what we are treating. We quote at the consultation before anything is booked. Current Radiesse offers are on our specials page.

No. Radiesse does both jobs: it adds volume now and builds collagen later. Sculptra only does the slow half, so there is no immediate volume and the change arrives as collagen forms over the months that follow. Neither is better than the other; they answer different questions, and a sensible plan often uses more than one. We will say which suits you at your consultation.
